Umbral explores the encounter between two opposing states of pictorial matter. A dark, open field coexists with a dense chromatic structure that progressively advances across it, establishing an irregular boundary between emptiness and accumulation, darkness and light.

The composition emerges through the overlapping impacts, trajectories, and repeated actions characteristic of Juggling Painting. Although the overall direction and occupation of space result from conscious decisions, the boundaries between the two regions are shaped by the unpredictable behavior of paint, transforming the initial contrast into a zone of interaction.

The work approaches the threshold not as a line separating two territories, but as a space of transformation. Light and darkness remain present and define one another, while the balance between them appears to be in a continuous state of change.
